Discovery Park, once spanning 27 acres, served as a haven for community gatherings and outdoor enthusiasts. Today, it has blossomed into a sprawling 64-acre recreational paradise, beckoning both locals and visitors to embrace its newfound treasures. Situated between Eagle and Locust Grove Roads in the heart of Meridian, Idaho, this park has undergone a remarkable transformation.

The visionary minds of Robert and Jenny Kirkland planted the seeds of this exceptional sanctuary. Their noble aspiration to give back to their small West Tennessee hometown, Union City, materialized into the remarkable reality that is Discovery Park.

Inaugurated in 2017, the park’s inception marked the genesis of a transformative experience—a testament to the Kirklands’ vision and the unwavering support from individuals and organizations. This once 27-acre haven of recreation and camaraderie underwent a significant expansion, doubling its expanse to approximately 64 acres.

The new amenities introduced in this expansion include an impressive Active Area featuring pickleball and tennis courts, an exhilarating 40-yard dash challenge, and vibrant basketball courts. Additionally, a dedicated Teen Area now houses a thrilling skatepark, inviting sand volleyball courts, tranquil hammock poles, and a shelter equipped with WiFi. Further attractions such as a bike park and pump track, a delightful sand/water play area, a comforting concessions stand, an off-leash dog area, a stage and event lawn, educational gardens, and serene walking paths have been integrated, enriching the park’s offerings.
